The brown trickle glaze and green trickle glaze have fraction marks but nothing else - they are however 154s, the small crown lynn swan.

The black swan is definately a 170 - the large crown lynn swan. Very Happy

Swans .... Empty Crown Lynn Swans

Post  collectiques Sun May 18, 2008 11:51 pm

Just to add to our information on Swans ...

In our weekly online chat night session last night ...we discussed Crown Lynn Swans...

apparently the Black Crown Lynn Swans have the 170 number in the exact same position as the other white swans...however there are fakes out there that have the number to the foot of the base...running longtitudinal

Studio ceramics have been making swans from the same moulds and selling them for some time...they don't market them as Crown Lynn but they are very similar...the mark runs in the other direction .... another case of buyer beware. scooter

Swans .... Empty studio ceramic swans

Post  misamo Mon May 19, 2008 8:04 pm

The studio ceramic copies I have seen in their outlet shop in Takapuna are all smaller and lighter than the original sized Crown Lynn ones. They have copies of lots of the Crown Lynn vase moulds and also the Titian fish jug. I think it would very hard to tell from a photo which was which. Some of them have NZ written in black coloured ink on the bottom. Next time I go I will check out the bases and see re any numbers

I have only seen the NZ on the base and thought too that they were a little smaller but heavier than the crown lynn 170s.
