I found a funny little thing at a charity shop today... I love these little carved "things" - don't know much about them - must spend some time looking into them sometime soon...

It's tiny - only 2.5cms high and the lid screws off ... very cute flower

It's soooo small its hard to tell to be honest with you spot20 ...either resin or ivory - hard to see grain lines though because of size ...I have been told you can burn ivory to see if it is ivory...but not really game. Wonder if anyone else knows how to tell without burning it... ? alien

I found a nice little Ruskin Pottery vase from England yesterday - circa 1916

It was stuffed full of pot pouri !! - It looks quite modern so no one probably realised it was so old.

Hi Collectiques

Your Ruskin vase is a Ginger Pot in lustre glaze. Unfortunately it's missing it's lid which is a real shame - would be worth around $1500 otherwise. Still, an excellent find and if it was stuffed with pot pouri you probably got it for next to nothing.

All the best

brilliant info - thanks truk10

You're quite right looking closely at the top it definitely has a very small lip where the lid should be ... - I tried to find the shape the other night on ebay...but only found one example in a similar glaze.

Do you collect Ruskin truk10? I haven't seen much of it around NZ...need to spend some time reading up on it... I really like the glaze though...

Thanks flower
