Solved New Zealand Pottery marks

Post  collectiques Sat Mar 07, 2009 11:47 am

I for one loved TimCaulton's photographic pottery marks guide that was available online until recently.

I personally think it is easier to distinguish a mark through a photo than a line drawing.

I wondered if some of our members might be interested in starting our own pottery marks guide online. I don't want to reinvent the wheel but I do think that with the demise of the pottersmarks website we lost a valuable resource.

Now it's quite difficult to get a reasonable photograph of a potters mark - macro setting on your camera will definitely help and I'm told take with natural light rather than flash.

You can either post any marks you would like to contribute on this thread and I will start to collate them or you can email me directly with them collectiques@woosh.co.nz

Thanks in advance for your help flower
