Re: POSSIBLE STITCHBURY BEAUTY????
It looks like a Peter Stichbury to me...
I can't quite see though..does it have the two dots to the lower right of the PS?

Re: POSSIBLE STITCHBURY BEAUTY????
oppps forgot to add ...if you list it online Stichbury only has one "t" ...(just in case a collector misses it when searching)

Nope, thats not Stichbury, the mark is not right, and the style of pot looks off. Check out this Stichbury mark and see if you can spot the differences.

Re: POSSIBLE STITCHBURY BEAUTY????
The only thing I can think of doing is finding all the potters with PS and SP initials and trying to match up one....I have a mystery mark that is similar to this one.

Re: POSSIBLE STITCHBURY BEAUTY????
Hey folks - have noticed a similar pot on tradey adn I reckon it looks the same as mine - the trader suggests it is Richard Cadness - any opinions??? I had a squizz in the book and reckon it could be a possibility

Richard Cadness??
I think that Tim may dissapoint you again SpotOn. I think he told me that Richard trained with Len Castle and Len always admired RIchard's ability to throw 'light' bodies - you describe yours as 'heavy'. Jo loaded an image of a Cadness wine flagon and goblets on this forum in December. (You can probabaly find it using the search fuction) The body is white (porcelaineous?) and the glaze is typical of Cadness - really tidy, not drizzled with slip like yours. I think that you're right to pursue the PS or SP monogram potential.

Re: POSSIBLE STITCHBURY BEAUTY????
Thanks for that Rosco - that interesting about the light bodies, is that something potters aspire to?? Does a heavy pot require not as much skill perhaps? I guess that would make sense (bit like a sponge cake!!) and that the more you pot the lighter your pots become...al good points to recognise when collecting i am thinking. This pot does have a very grounded feel to it thats for sure!
Cheers for the info off on a trawl

Re: POSSIBLE STITCHBURY BEAUTY????
Hi spot, not sure it's a Richard Cadness pot either going by the mark. But the weight issue is interesting. All Cadness pots I have seen are finely thrown...so are usually quite light relative to size. But there are no rules really.
