Going through the boxes
Well I have been going through the boxes just lately, and to be honest, when I see a pot I almost always remember it and get slightly depressed....I suppose I want to see something new instead of the same old pot I bought 5 years ago when I was the crazy collector. The thing is, there is so much and what do I do with it all now................For someone who is easily bored this is just the usual situation. I really don't know how other collectors view their pots, but for me, its a 5 minute wonder....then its "Ok What now?"
The problem of never being satisfied with what I have is a curse in many ways. It is a great engine for collecting, but useless for appreciation in most areas. There are always exceptions of course. But it has to be something very special to hold my attention for the post 5 minute cutout point. Just think iron in the universe and the heavier elements as an easier example to understand.
Anyway just thought I would post something as no one else seems to be.

Re: Going through the boxes
It' been a strange couple of weeks selling a few pots on trademe. I have seen some pots I thought would never sell...sell, and pots that should have sold not sell. So what is going on here. Perhaps some people just like the pot for what it is and are not looking for a particular name. I doubt if I tried to sell the same pots at a real auction house I would have made any pocket money out of it....perhaps the accessibility to the pot gave it a much bigger audience and thus a better market. I don't know. Some pots were bought at Christmas presents or just presents....that idea seems quite cool....

Re: Going through the boxes
I was tempted to buy your Paul Fisher blue pot... but forgot about auction end ...the price was a a bargain I think ...
Re: Going through the boxes
Paul Fisher pots are quite good really, worth getting if you can. The blue just didn't got with my other pots...same as the Charade Honey pots, nice bits but just don't go.

Re: Going through the boxes
I've never had a piece of Paul Fisher...so was tempted...apparently his work was very expensive to buy...during the 70's/80's?
I don't know much about him...just that my mum had a piece and she paid a fortune for it she said...mind you her fortune and mine might be different...

Re: Going through the boxes
I think a lot of pots back in the day were quite expensive....all the wedding present pots for example......now though...much of it is worth a lot less. Take Adrian Cotter wine sets......you can pick one up for $10....bet it would have cost quite a bit more in the 1970's.....fashion's change
