Anneke Borren Mark
My first foray on this site......
An auction on Trade Me has just closed (unsold) with a bottle attributed to Anneke Borren. The piece is not at all like Anneke's wonderful pieces and someone questioned the mark this time but the seller replied quite emphatically that it was by Anneke. It has an impressed mark - one that is often atttributed to Anneke because it has a vaguely similar shape. It is not her mark, and I know because Anneke Borren told me this mark is not hers. Her mark is always painted and never impressed - her words. The mark in question is the 2nd mystery mark on page 143 of "Marks of NZ Potters". Just thought I'd mention this to the enthusiasts because it seems to be a common mis-attribution. I'd like to know whose mark it is though..........

Re: Anneke Borren Mark
Auction number 160558469.....
I agree that it is wrong attributed....
even though there are similarities.
Waits for Tim to confirm this though.....

Yep that's one of those infamous mystery marks, can remember being blacklisted over that one in the good old days.

Re: Anneke Borren Mark
oh I have a piece somewhere with that mark ....hrrm no idea either and yes very much a learning curve - mistakes can be positive though I've sure made enough of them over the years ...and continue to
I've often wished I had a photographic memory so I could store every single potters mark ... it's just not happening though...
