Graeme Storm visit.....
I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when we got to Graeme's place!
The views out across the Hauraki Gulf were fantastic - Tiri - Coromandel - Gt Barrier - Little Barrier - Whangaparoa
The gorgeous garden was littered with his pots ...... it was fan....tastic!
He still makes his distinctive classical pottery and HUGE platters .... it was overwhelming actually to see so many beautiful pieces. He showed us his workroom ..... and it was spotless! He talked about his methods of decorating using slips and showed us how his trusty shimpo wheel worked..... amazing as there was no drip tray! He has a showroom where we were able to purchase his work from...... I could hardly wait !!! Then after juice and sandwiches on the deck he took us into his home and showed us his collection of his own pottery from over the years........ simply stunning!!!! He makes Bellarmine jugs that are so superb ..... arghhhh and has a collection that has inspired him .... he converts his rubbish burner into a salt kiln to fire these !! He also has a collection of Len Castle's fabulous wall hangings .......
What a gracious humble yet brilliant man!
My purchase.....
and a pic of one of his huge platters....

Re: Graeme Storm visit.....
Graeme had a Bellarmine jug at the Art + Object auction last week his lovely wife Jackie mentioned.....
Does anyone know what it went for?
I checked their site and it says $750 to $1000 but I'm not sure if that was the catalogue suggested price.
