The Fox Number 180
The last one: # 180.
Also, I noticed that there is a pic of the pointer dogs (#179) on page 5 of the Crown Lynn animals thread that has not yet been put on the shape guide.
Collectiques: Great work on the Shufflebotham stuff. Its fantastic history!

Re: Crown Lynn Shape Guide
Does anyone happen to have a photo of a 156 kiwi floating about please ...that we could add to the shape guide...?
Nick Gane has kindly supplied us with some photos for the shape guide
No 81
No 87
Now I'm having a spot of trouble with the next three as we already have shape numbers under these numbers ...can anyone solve this mystery please? Are they Crown Lynn...? are they under another numbering system? are they are double up of the numbering system ...any help would be great thanks ...

Re: Crown Lynn Shape Guide
Just a thought Jo. Is there perhaps a possibility of adding a date range to each of the shapes (or backstamps) please?

We definitely need to work on the backstamp section hazedaze ... the numbers in this range were mostly fazed out by about 1964 though ...and replaced with 4 digit numbering ...(according to Gail Henry's NZ Pottery book) ... so we're working with shapes up to about that time at the moment ... is that what you mean?
More Shapes for the shape guide
Hi guys
I've been doing a bit of photographing so have now some more shapes to add. I suppose when Jim Drummond's collection gets put on there may not be much opportunity to contribute. Have you heard anything Jo?

Hope this encourages other members to dust off a few new shapes to help Jo out. I think its a great project. I know photographing them can be a bit time-consuming but it will be worth it to see the whole collection online eventually.

Re: Crown Lynn Shape Guide
I guess it's a bit of a big ask really when things keep changing! I was sort of thinking: Tiki & 3 stars 19?? - 19**: Tiki & 2 Stars 18?? - 19??: Inscribed No. 99 dates it to between * and * date. Really, just a rough idea of the date of the item where possible for reference:D Thanks Jo.

More Shapes for the shape guide
It is interesting that, so far, we have not found many numbered shapes in the first 40 - only 3 or 4 for the shape-guide. I think the reason for this is that they were mainly shapes that were created before the numbering system was standardised. Many of these shapes are probably common in the form of un-numbered trickle glazed pots, but the hard part is ascribing a number to them.
There is possibly one way to do this. It seems Salisbury decorated blanks of these shapes for longer than many of them were decorated in-house by CL. So it may be easier to find numbered blanks for these first forty than trickle-glazed examples. Take a look at the three photos below.
The first is an un-numbered CL trickle glazed shape. The second is a Salisbury decorated CL bisque-fired blank. The third photo shows the base marks of both with the early CL "Made In NZ" mark on the trickle-glazed one and a clear number "33" on the Salisbury one. Guys, I think we need eyes peeled for Salisbury decorated blanks if we want to find out the numbers of many of the first 40.
