Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
Hiya Haze - I think thats a Titian/Crown Lynn period vase - 2085 as I hae that one too.
I'm pretty sure the shape is on the CL shape guide as an earlier number - have a quick squizz you should be able to find it

Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
Thanks Jo and savvy.
I did have a quick browse before I posted, but only a quick scoot for the number eg 1-199 etc. and didn't look at the photos. Just saw there wasn't four digits and checked the Titian!!! I shall have to go back and look at the photos!!!! Thanks heaps.

Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
You must see shape numbers in your sleep Just found it thanks Jo when your email popped through. That'll teach me to look!
Does the 4 digit numbers mean that the same shape was reproduced later with a 3 digit number; or was the 4 digit the earlier one? Either way, what would be the dates please?

4 digits were later - that one was first produced in 1971 or should I say reproduced

Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
Thought I might have had a wee 'find', but....!! Common as muck I also picked up another one which looks like a big shallow 'trophy cup' with fine handles, but unfortunately, its Beswick!

Hi guys
Hi Hazedaze, Jo and Shazz
I think you were right Hazedaze. This was a Titian mould that seems to have been transfered to CL when Titian became a subsidiary in 1967 or after. The shape is similar to the CL # 673, but that one was quite a bit smaller than the Titian one. If you put the pics side by side you can see the moulding differences too, esp. the rim decoration.
I can't make out the numbers on the ones here unfortunately. The Titian number looks like it was 'something 106'. It is one of the larger Titian vases.

yep you're quite right - should have read the measurements the 2085 doesn't have a transfer note (which they did on many of the mould transfers) and is 6 3/4 inches high called 'fluted bowl"
whereas the 673 doesn't have a height on the notes but was called 'Urn type vase with ornate edge' first date 1963 (normally but not always if its a mould transfer it seems to have Titian in brackets in the notes
Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
Gosh Jo. I don't think they realised how complicated they were going to make things for everyone! Instead of bringing out the 'exact' same vase with a new number, why didn't they just modify the pattern a bit, say with a 'bobble' or two between some of the top flutes to make it a bit easier!!!??

Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
well in essence they did both really Crown Lynn had their moulds and Titian had theirs until CL bought Titian - then it got a little more complicated
Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
Ahh! I see. Just to let you know 'I don't do complicated' Jo. I shall leave that for you knowledgeable guys to help me out.

I'm revamping the entire forum at the moment in the background - thats complicated enough for everyone I think I'm nearly there though... had no idea it was so complicated to move things around ...
Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
It's looking fantastic Jo. (I'd take my hat off to you if I had one!) I don't know how you do it all! I can't even load a photo without banjaxing it up, as you know

Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
aww thanks haze ...but you can't see the new improved version yet so the old one must be looking ok...hehehe
I'll be sending out a newsletter and emailing people directly when its ready - the software change will mean a new password for everyone to access the first time but apart from that there shouldn't be too many differences - hopefully only improvements

Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
My statement was a bit vague wasn't it! Sorry. That's what I really meant Jo, was that it's looking great just now. Can't imagine how it can be improved upon, but can't wait to see. Before these current changes, (and after I changed from Dinasaur dialup to broadband), it still took quite some time to download the shape guide almost thumbnail by thumbnail; but now....it's ACE.

Great info Jo, Thanks!
Any idea how many of the later shapes the notes record as transfered Titian moulds?

ummm a lot ...too many to count today will tally them up when I've finished the new site - interestingly enough theres Titian in brackets and Chch in brackets (Chch I assume is a reference to Luke Adams)
Re: Could this possibly be Titian?
That's really interesting Jo. I can't say I remember seeing any Crown Lynn pots that look like they may have once been Luke Adams. Enthusiastically awaiting further details...

I'm not sure what it means ... perhaps they were just using CL modelers for their work... ...perhaps they were being sent to chch...? maybe they were made at the luke adams factory in chch ...like the ngakura was ... hrrrmm not sure...
an example : "1185 Air NZ Maori pattern ashtray (" " ) .....(sic).........14.8.73"
("") continuing a line of (Chch) ...
